Special Olympics Cook Out – October 2026

As a group, members of Council 4563, from St Rose of Lima, prepared, cooked and served 400 hamburgers and 280 hot dogs for approximately 600+ Special Olympic Athletes, Coaches, Volunteers and Staff. Winning teams and individual athletes traveled from across the state: Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville and everywhere in between. The weather was gloomy and the wind kept it cold but these athletes brought warm smiles, high spirits, and lots of laughter. They were very appreciative to have the Knights of Columbus there serving them. And they knew exactly who the Knights were based on their previous exposure with other events throughout the year all across the state.

Kind Charities, which is established by the State of Tennessee Knights of Columbus, run by Tennessee Knights, and supported by Tennessee Knights, donated the Food for the event. Originally, they were only going to cook and serve the hamburgers and hotdogs, but on the day of the event, a few extra stations were added, including a drink station and a chip station. Thank you to all the Knights, and their family members, who volunteered and made the event that much more “Special” for Special Olympics.

Thank you to the 11 Knights, and family members, from Council 4563, at St Rose of Lima, for all their hard work for Special Olympics. In attendance:
